The park covers 325 km², with Lake Manyara occupying about two-thirds of this area. Famous for its diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife, it’s an essential stop on Tanzania’s northern safari circuit.

About Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is an alkaline soda lake that attracts a large population of flamingos, especially during migration, which turn the lake’s shores into a pink-hued spectacle. The park is also known for its groundwater forests, fed by underground springs, which offer shelter to a variety of animals, including baboons, monkeys, and elephants. The woodlands and savannahs provide open spaces where you can spot grazing herbivores like wildebeests, zebras, and impalas.

In addition to its rich wildlife, the park is home to the fascinating tree-climbing lions, a rare sight that has earned Lake Manyara its place in safari legends. These lions are often seen lounging in the branches of acacia trees, offering a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors.
